2. Hou Gang Tenements (murdering ghosts)
This is by far one of the most evil hauntings, the ghost is said to have murdered a resident of the tenement buildings. It is said that the woman who was murdered now screams and keeps the residents of the tenement block awake at night.
3. Jerome Grand Hotel in Jerome, Arizona (the old hospital ghosts)
The Grand Hotel started it’s spooky life as one of the most advanced hospital facilities in Arizona. It’s patients where mostly from the Jerome mines, and the practices of the hospital were well known across the U.S. but when the mines closed and the towns population was reduced to only a handful of people, the hospital was closed down. For years the hospital stood abandoned and people that lived in the area told of a women in white watching them from the balcony. The remaining residents of Jerome also said they could hear screams coming from the infirmary. And so in 1994 it was purchased and remade as the Jerome Grand Hotel, this opened it’s doors in 1997, Lots of reports mention that hotel visitors have see a lady dressed in white in their bedroom balcony, doors in the hotel open on their own accord, lights turn on and off and other reports say that the hotels lift is haunted by a young man.
The young man is thought to be a infirmary employee Claude Harvey who was discovered dead in the lift shaft around 1935. The women in white is thought to have been a patient who died after throwing herself from the infirmary window.
4. Amityville Horror House (Fact or Fiction)
One of the most infamous ghost tales ever, the Amityville Horror started a public life as a book entitled The Amityville Horror: A True Story. Many people discounted the novel as a work of fiction by writer Jay Anson, playing on the real events of 1974 when the DeFeo family were killed in the Amityville house.
The entire family were murdered in their beds as they slept, the parents and all three children. Ronald Jr was the only person found alive in the house and so was arrested for the murders of his entire family. What people had found really strange was that each person had been face down when shot, even though they had been shot as a distance so no one could have been holding them down. Another odd fact was that the children had not woken up whilst the killer muredered their parents, even though a very loud rifle was used.
The killings had upset the quiet community in Long Island, but people did resign themselves to tha fact that Ronald Jr the son had simply lost his mind.. One year later the Amityville house was bought by George and Kathy Lutz, and they and thier three children moved in.
Tormented by an unseen force, the family were subjected to doors ripped off hinges and even cloven footprints in the snow outside the door. A priest that had come to bless the house was soon covered in burns and green slime would cover the walls.
The family left the house after 28 days and left all their worldly goods inside, to terrified to come back and get them. After this people in the once sleepy community began to wonder if Ronald Jr really had been responsible for his families deaths.

5. Myrtles Plantation in St. Francisville, Louisiana
This old slave plantation in Louisiana is said to be haunted by the spirits of many vengeful slaves, but one in particular is that Chloe a slave woman who had tried to protect others from their master Clark Wooddroff. In an effort to find out what Woodroff intended to do to the others such as hurt, rape or send them away, Chloe would listen in on his conversations. Once Wooddroff found out that the slave had been snooping, he had her ear cut off. Chloe then wore a green bonnet to hide her missing ear and continued to work in the household.
I while after when cooking for the childrens birthday, Chloe took her revenge and added poison to the birthday cake, feeding this to Wooddroff’s family and killing them all. But the slaves hated that Chloe had taken her revenge out on the children and they took her and hanged her in the masters fields. Then her body was cast into the river and never recovered.
It is said that Chloe, who can be recognised by her green bonnet, wandered the grounds of the old house and is even said to stand over visitors beds as they sleep.
6. The Bell Farm – Adams, Tennessee, US (the Bell Witch) TTT
This was one of the most infamous killings by a spirit in modern times, the Bell Witch is said to have tormented for four years and then brutally murdered John Bell in the family home.
The ghost is said to have been connected to a local women called Kate Batts, Batts was the Bells neighbour who they had fallen into ill favour with.. The first signs of the spirit was through banging and scratching on the walls, and then the Bell children were affected. The youngest of the Bells children Elizabeth was attacked first, found most mornings covered in deep scratches and bruises. The father John Bell had tried to keep the events hidden from the community but when he began to fall ill, others began to see the manifestations for themselves, they reported seeing John Bell attacked my something while lying in his bed and cups of black poison were found by his bed side then would disappear.
After his death from what people believed to be poison, the haunting did stop for a time, but then it would start up again. No one knew exactly who the ghost was or what connection it had with Kate Batts, but it is now thought to reside in a cave on the property called locally as the The Bell Witch Cave.
7. Ballygally Castle – Ballygally Bay, Ireland (Lady Isobel Shaw)
True to most castles Ballygally Castle in Ireland is haunted, it is said to be haunted by a number of restless spirits one is of Lady Isobel Shaw who was locked up in a room by her husband and starved to death, the poor unfortunate Lady Shaw is however said to be a non malevolent spirit and merely knocks on doors and disappearing. another ghost is said to be that of a lady of the house Madame Nixon, this lady is now said to wander the halls at night dressed in a slik gown.
The rest of the ghosts that haunt the castle are an army of soldiers who both defended and attacked the castle during Ireland’s times. They are said to march into the castle grounds dressed in full uniform and tease and scare the guests.
8. The White House (the Dead Presidents)
One of the most famous houses on the planet has been haunted by some of the most important people on the planet for years, First Ladies and Presidents are said to haunt the halls of the White House. Abraham Lincoln is said to walk the hallways of the White House, Eleanor Roosevelt swore that she saw the ghost on a number of occassions, and once a member of the staff said they had seen the ghost in the Lincoln bedroom.
9. Bobby Mackey’s Music World in Wilder, Kentucky (Demons)
Not knowning anything of the warehouses murky past, Bobby and Janey Mackey decided to buy the property to convert it. The bar had once been an old slaughter house in the 1850’s and the well beneath that had caught the animal blood had been used for satanic worship when the slaughter house had closed down. Rumour goes that it was turned into a speakeasy in the 20’s, and had it’s fair share of unsolved murders.
In 1976 after the Mackeys converted the space, it is said that the spirit or demon that occupied the building had attacked many people, from throwing beer glasses to pushing people down the club stairs.
10. Borley Rectory
The Rectory is said to be the site of many haunting’s, that eye witnesses cannot dismiss away. A nun is said to be the most active spirit in the house, she throws things at people and writes on the walls. As it happened when the cellars were cleared and work had begun on the house in 1943, the jaw bone of a young women was found. This is thought to be the remains of the nun that was the most active spirit, it is uncertain whether she had been murdered.
11. Woodburn in Dover, Delaware (3 ghosts)
This house in Delaware is said to be haunted by the owners father an older gentlemen, who is dressed in a powdered wig and ruffled shirt. The owners of the house the Bates were only made aware of the house ghosts when a visitor told them of the spirit in their room, the house is thought to be haunted by three ghosts in total, the others are a small girl and a runaway slave whose screams can be heard at night.
12. Hannah Mansion in Indianapolis, Indiana (ghost slaves)
Haunted by a gang of slaves, this house was not only a home, but was a stop on the underground railway connection. One night a group of slaves who perhaps had been travelling or working on the railroad were waiting in the basement, when an oil lamp had been knocked over and they had all burnt to death. The deaths were covered up my the house owners and the bodied buried in the basement. It is said that the restless spirits still haunt the houses basement and are also seen hiding in shadows in the house itself.
13. Madeley Court Hotel (Eerie laughter)
Built in the 1500’s and featured in the hauntedhotelguide Madeley Court Hotel, next to Virgins V festival in Weston Park, the hotel is said to have a number of manifestations from Victorian maids and monks to eerie disembodied laughter. The original timber staircase is thought to date back to the 1500’s and is where most of the activity is centered.
14. Ightham Mote House (The Lady in the Wall)
The ghost that haunts this place is that of Dame Dorothy Selby, she is said to have been involved in the plot to blow up Parliament. She had sent a letter off to her cousin Lord Monteagle warning him of the plot in order to save his life, the letter however had put stop to the bombing of parliament and sent many of those behind it to their death. Friends of the organisers of the plot who had lost their lives had found out about the letter and in an act of vengeance had seized Dame Selby and had her walled up in a tiny room in the tower, and left her to die.
In 1872 workmen had been brought in my the new owners of the house to investigate a draft, coming from the tower. They had of course discovered the remains of Dame Dorothy and no source of the coldness that the owners described.
15. The Stanley Hotel (REDRUM)
Most famous for it’s role in the Kubrick movie ‘The Shining’, the idea of staying in the hotel would make most people scream. What is worrying is that the building is actually haunted, the Author Steven King was even scared as he stayed there and wrote the book. Although the ghosts in the Stanley do not seam to be malicious in anyway just really active and talkative.
Guests of the hotel have reported shadows in their room, doors swining open, ghostly footsteps and talking. We have included video footage of a ghostly voice recorded my the ‘Ghost Hunters’.
