The second thing you can do is to buy extremely strong companies. It takes a lot of money to live off of dividends and investing in strong companies can be a great way to grow your money over the long term.
Many people who do live off of dividends do because they started investing into great companies and as those companies grew over time they eventually got to a point where the stock was supporting them.
Many people do live off of dividends, it is not impossible, it just takes some time.
